Move to Canada - Day 5

October 22, 2011: Cheyenne, WY to Bozeman, MT

This day felt like the longest day of driving on the whole trip, by far.  Wyoming and Eastern Montana, although beautiful in their own rolling-plain kind of way, are really really boring.  We would go miles upon miles before seeing the next town, which made us wonder how people who live on these remote lands go grocery shopping, get gas, do anything other than stay at home.  They probably love that life, but for me, a city girl, it is unimaginable.

We tried to stop every couple hours to take a break, stretch our legs and convince ourselves not to turn back to Texas.  These stops were the first time in our trip that I felt we really did not belong.  People just stared at us.  Maybe it was the Texas license plates or the New Mexico State University sweatshirts, but it was very clear they knew we weren't from around there. I was hoping this wouldn't be the norm in Calgary too.

Things we learned today:
1.  We do not fit in at the McDonald's in Cheyenne

2.  We got better phone service in the middle of Wyoming than we got in our apartment in Houston

3.  Wyoming is "the equality state" with 5.4 people per square mile, ranked 49/50 ahead of only Alaska

4.  New state mottos for Wyoming:
WYoming - WY did we decide to drive through this state???
WYoming - WY is everyone staring at us???

5.  Deer Antelope - EVERYWHERE!

6.  We have officially driving every mile of Interstate 25 from Las Cruces, NM to Buffalo, WY, not all in this trip of course
